I had been traveling in Portugal for a month when we checked into Brown's. I acquired lots of purchases that needed to be shipped to the US. The staff at the front desk, no matter the shift or time of day, were very helpful and very accommodating. They arranged with their recommended shipper to contact me for payment & had the big box picked up from the hotel for delivery to me. This made a stress point vanish! Also, another incident occurred that could have been awful. I lost a very valuable earring which I discovered while touring Sintra. When I returned, I checked with the front desk to discover that housekeeping had found it on the hall floor outside of my room. What a relief! I spoke with housekeeping to offer a reward and spoke to the lady who found my earring. So sweet! I really felt as if I had a second chance to keep an item that is sentimental and precious to me, all because of the honesty of Brown's staff. Housekeeping, by the way, is so good. Our room was spotless and manicured each day. So lovely to return to after a long day of exploring. We also loved the bar! The atmosphere is an oasis with great drinks, a small bar menu, tons of wonderful books, and a great staff.

I highly recommend this hotel for its location, the lovely staff, the great bar and lounge area and a really good breakfast with choice to suit everyone. And the mattress was so comfortable we took photos of the labels and brand so we can track it down! It’s in a relatively quiet road - very narrow but the taxi dropping us off and picking us managed fine. The location cannot be faulted - there most be a hundred restaurants within a hundred yards and the area is flat ( unlike much if the city!). It’s literally a 10 minute walk down to the river front and Rossio station is 10 minutes the other way (which may be relevant to you for days out). We’d give a a particular shout out to the bar area - and the bar staff. This is a proper professionally run and staffed bar whilst still being welcoming and perfect for tourists at the end of a busy day. We spent more time there than we would have imagined we would!

What a lush surprise this hotel is! Clean, well decorated, great options. A welcome drink upon check in and a free bottle of Portuguese wine in the room plus a liter of free water. (IYKYK in Europe what a luxury free water is). Staff was friendly and thorough in their information and instructions to guests. They use physical keys - a nice boutique touch but I had no idea how to unlock a Portuguese door and needed staff to talk me through. They were patient and kind, though I felt a bit silly. Food is decent - take advantage of the happy hour deals. Room service is quick but it's only lunch and dinner.

The room we stayed in is beautiful, so comfortable and big, with great leather armchairs and wonderful books to read, great shower, huge bed, the hotel itself is fantastically decorated, just so cool, the staff were very nice, it was my wife's birthday and they left a card and a bottle of sparkling wine and two pastries, plenty of breakfast choices, nice bread and pastries and fruit etc.. but..

Nicely appointed hotel with a wonderful staff. Very attentive and helpful. We ate at the hotel a couple nights after long days of touring and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bartenders were excellent and drinks so tasty too. They upgraded us to a junior suite and it was delightful! We would definitely stay here again!
